aaahhh ... Bill ... reading about him reminded me of Jostein Gaarder's book "Maya" where the main character spends a lot of time discussing evolutionary biology with the gecko that he's found in his room and called "Gordon" (coz he was sitting on a bottle of "Gordon's Gin"). I can't say its as good a read as "Sophie's World" - but that could be because the translation was a bit duff rather than his actual writing ... still, if you get a chance, its a good read if only to amuse yourself reading the constant banter the main character has with a gecko called Gordon ...

Reminds me of all the animals that used to live in the various bungalows huts I lived in arround the world... I was never too keen on the scorpions tho.

On a computing note: you may or may not be interested to know that as of Sept Jeff K will no longer be HoD and Jeff M will take over. Makes my life interesting!

Ge-cko! Ge-e-e-e-cko!

Hey up, sorry I've been quiet but -- ha ha -- we've been frantically busy with assessments. I've been running a 2nd year Design Studies class recently, and the brief I was running/assessing was to come up with an idea for a "Genre Twist" movie and/or computer game and then produce a storyboard for the opening titles, a leaflet or poster, some other promo artwork or actual flash/video titles and then do a 5-minute "elevator pitch" style presentation to us on it pretending that we're producers who might fund the movie.

Turned out to be great fun: the best ideas were (1) a musical vampire sci-fi set in a space-station (I think you'd like that one), and (2) "Crouching Tigger, Hidden Eeyore" which speaks for itself I think!

This is all quite hard work for me, being not so familiar with art school ways of doing things, but it's certainly more fun than marking exam papers!
