Mind you, i've never been to Totnes. reminded me of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LETS" rel="nofollow">LETS</a> schemes and their "acorns" and "leaves" etc. but there's clearly a big difference between alternative currencies and alternatives *to* currency.
